CrossFit is not just new kind of aerobics class or fitness marketing gimmick. CrossFit uses classic athletic training to make you into the athlete you've always wanted to be.
1) Free Class and Introduction. During this hour-long class we will meet in a small group, perhaps one-on-one, and talk about your needs and goals, current fitness and athletic history. We will do a warm-up and some skill work, then do a short WOD or CrossFit Work Out of the Day. We will tailor the work to your fitness level, as we will in every class. This is where we assess your level of fitness and get to know any physical issues you have. If you have orthopedic problems or our worried about whether or not you can make it through the beginners class then make an appointment to meet with us one-on-one. You may email a trainer directly or call.
There are several times during which you can come in for a free introductory class. You may sign-up for one of the scheduled times online or make a special appointment. If you are very busy, you can just make an appointment to talk for half and hour. In addition, anybody may attend our Free Community Hero and Team WODs Saturday class, to experience the energy of a busy CrossFit workout! This is a lot of fun (a darn good workout!) and you will meet a bunch of great people. As in all of our classes, the weights and reps can be modified to make sure that you can be successful. Make an appointment here at the bottom of the page.
2) Begin with Personal Training. Many clients start out with a personal training series of 6 or 12 sessions. During these sessions you will work with your trainer to build your general level of fitness and get comfortable with our movements. This route will be best for you if: you want to make a major change in body composition or weight; you are new to exercise or need extra accountability; you have significant health or orthopedic issues; your schedule is very restrictive; or if you just have specific performance or sport goals. After your initial session, you may choose to either continue with Personal Training or join our On-Ramp beginners class. If you still have serious health or movement constraints, you should stick with personal training to get the attention you deserve. Make appointment here.
3) Or begin with our On-Ramp beginners' class. (It is not required to meet with a trainer one-on-one first, but it is highly recommended that you take advantage of our FREE assessment and goal-setting seminar sometime before or during On-Ramp.) This class is for the generally active, injury free person who wants to join our regular classes. Our On-Ramp beginners class offers a group ramp-up class where the workouts will gradually increase in difficulty and intensity. In these classes we hammer technique, build strength, and do some conditioning with a WOD or Workout Of the Day. We will scale these workouts so that you can be successful.
The next On-Ramp will start after the first of the month and meet three times a week for four weeks. You will receive coaching on nutritional basics, barbell lifts (like squat and clean), kettlebell moves, rowing skills, basic bodyweight movements like the handstand and much more. You will get intense coaching in a small group environment. After you show competence in the basic movements and skills of CrossFit, you will be able to attend any of our fast-paced classes all day from 5:30 am to 6:30 pm. Sign up here to see when the next class starts and to reserve your spot.
3) If you regularly do intense interval training and are proficient at the barbell lifts, kettlebell work, and Olympic lifts you may attempt to test out of On-Ramp. Contact us. If you are merely highly fit and very strong, you will still need to do some serious work to become a great CrossFitter and we want to start you off right by drilling the skills you need to be successful in CrossFit.
We also offer CrossFit Kids classes. Kids may try the CrossFit Kids class for free. Please sign up here and let us know something about your child!
From the CrossFit Kids website: "CrossFit Kids is the principal strength and conditioning program for many young athletes and the primary P.E. program for many home schools and charter schools. It is used by athletic teams, martial arts schools, and many parents that want their kids to grow up healthy, strong and have a life-long love of working out, thus avoiding the common problems associated with childhood inactivity and obesity. Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Healthy living requires that our kids push, pull, run, throw, climb, lift, jump, effectively and safely regardless of whether or not they play athletics. Athletics is a specialized pursuit. Our goal is to support the specialist, but reward the generalist." Open from ages 8 - 13. If three more teenagers sign-up, we will start a 13-18 year old group. Contact us if interested.
